-(으)라고 하다
1.When we can use it?
다른 사람에게 들은 명령이나 말을 전달할 때 사용한다.
It is used to quote an imperative sentence.
2.How we can use it?
동사Verb + -(으)라고 하다.
먹다eat – Ending with a Consonant 으라고 하다 – 먹으라고 하다
가다go – Ending with a Vowel 라고 하다 – 가라고 하다
*놀다play – Ending with the consonant ‘ㄹ’ 라고 하다 – 놀라고 하다
3.예문 Examples
밥을 먹기 전에 손을 씻으라고 했어요.
He told me to wash my hands before eating.
이 영화를 꼭 보라고 했어요.
He told me to watch this movie.
가: 백화점에 가려면 어디에서 내려야 해요?
나:저 아주머니가 다음 역에서 내리라고 했어요.
Ga: Where do I get off to go to the department store?
Na: She told me to get off at the next station.
가:민정 씨가 방금 뭐라고 했어요?
나:시장에 가는 길에 우유를 사 달라고 했어요.
Ga: What did Minjung just say?
Na: I asked to buy some milk on my way to the market.
